Christmas with the Jones'

The presents are wrapped, the cards have been posted, the cupboards are full of festive goodies and Rufus is thoroughly sick of shopping.

We're having Christmas at home - our little family of three. We'll sing carols (tunelessly) round the tree, eat a lot, walk a bit and make it a Christmas to remember - even if the little bean will have forgotten it all by boxing day. For us it's a dream come true

So to all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - we hope you get all you wish for in 2011.

Feeling all creative and a bit festive...

To stave off the non-working boredom I thought I'd indulge in a spot of floristry. The smell of eucalyptus makes me feel better and concetrating on something other than Murder She Wrote must be good for my brain.

Behold my wreath - made with ingredients from Miss Pickering and my garden. The oranges I dried myself and they smell yummy. I now have florist fingernails - nice and grimey - and a sore back from standing for so long - but I think the results are worth it - don't you?

In other news Baby Jones seems to like pig rolls with stuffing and apple sauce - I'm thinking of installing a spit in the garden. My jeans no longer fit and are being held up with a hair band.

In search of art

Our house is devoid of art - not through choice, but through sheer indecision and laziness. There always seems to be something else to buy.

However I think I have finally fallen in love with an artist. Robert Ryan and his paper cuts - you can see them here, here and at his shop in Columbia Road in London. I think they are simply gorgeous and touching.

Mr Ryan also designs book covers for one of my other great loves - Mr de Bernieres - did you know that my copy of Captain Corellis Mandolin was signed personally by him (it's one of my "things I'd save in a fire") and that he didn't think too much of the film either?

If anyone should want to buy me a present that I will treasure forever I'd suggest a visit to Mr Ryan.

xoxo
